Few-Body States in Lund String Fragmentation Model

The well-known Monte Carlo simulation packet JETSET is not built in order to describe few-body states (in particular at the few GeV level in e+e− annihilation as in BEPC). In this note we will develop the formalism to use the basic Lund Model area law directly for Monte Carlo simulations.

Jet fragmentation and gauge/string duality

We consider an analog of e+e− annihilation in gauge theories which have a dual string description in asymptotically AdS5 space and discuss the nature of jet fragmentation. We construct the timelike anomalous dimension which governs the scale dependence of the fragmentation function. In the limit of infinite ’t Hooft coupling, the average multiplicity rises linearly with the energy and the inclu...

Baryon Production in the String Fragmentation Picture

An improved version of the “pop-corn” model for baryon production in quark and gluon jets is presented. With a reduced number of parameters the model reproduces well both production rates for different baryon species and baryon momentum distributions. Predictions are presented for a set of baryon-antibaryon correlations. e-mail [email protected] e-mail [email protected]

On Energy Conservation in Lund String Fragmentation

I discuss a Monte Carlo algorithm for hadronization in the Lund string fragmentation picture, which conserves energy and momentum exactly as is proposed by the model. An embryo to this Monte Carlo is used to calculate the total decay density of a string. This is found to reach its predicted asymptotic behaviour already at a string energy of about six hadron masses. 1 e-mail [email protected]

Second Quantization in Bit - String

Using a new fundamental theory based on bit-strings we derive a finite and discrete version of the solutions of the free one particle Dirac equation as segmented trajectories with steps of length h/me along the forward and backward light cones executed at velocity fc. Interpreting the statistical fluctuations which cause the bends in these segmented trajectories as emission and absorption of ra...
